Drug Reaction Deaths
Posted by alice under Current Events, Health, Trends
In light of recent news stories regarding the possible drug-interaction death of Anna Nicole Smith and her son, here are some statistics related to this.
Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) result in hundreds of deaths a year in the U.S. Whether these are reactions are from allergies, existing conditions, over-the-counter interactions or multiple drug interactions, is not quite known. And data for 2005 and 2006 is not yet available to help fill in the picture.

Did drug interaction deaths jump in 2003? Or was there a one-year deviation from the upward trend in 2002?

HI,
I would like to see a XmR chart for this data.
Simple way to give reader a way to tell if there is a trend or if one year is out.

Drug reaction deaths need to be kept in perspective. With over 300 million Americans, 350 deaths in one year is about the same as deaths from lightning. It is likely that half of medication fatal reactions had improper use of over the counter drugs involved.
